These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and tao yu (Hanqi) ("we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the SnipMD application, related updates, and any associated services (collectively, the "App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the App.
If you obtained the App through the Mac App Store, you also have a separate agreement with Apple Inc. ("Apple") covering your use of the App Store; in case of conflict between those terms and these Terms regarding the App Store, the Apple terms control.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on any macOS device you own or control, for your personal or internal business use. The App is licensed, not sold. We retain all right, title, and interest in and to the App, including all related intellectual property rights.
SnipMD Free is provided at no charge. SnipMD Pro is provided under a paid subscription (see §4) and adds the features described in §3.

We may change the list of features included in either tier in future versions. We will not remove a feature from your current paid subscription period without a proportionate refund or alternative.
SnipMD Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through the Mac App Store. There are two billing options:
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time in System Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions (or App Store → Account → Subscriptions on older macOS). Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you will retain Pro access until then.
Pricing for the next renewal period may change with at least 30 days' notice. If you do not agree to a price change, you may cancel before the renewal date.
A 7-day free trial is included with new Pro subscriptions. You may cancel any time during the trial and not be charged. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, you will be charged the applicable subscription price. Trials are available to new subscribers only; we do not grant repeated trials to the same Apple ID.
Refunds are handled by Apple per the Mac App Store refund policy. To request a refund:

You agree not to:
SnipMD integrates with third-party AI providers. When you click an AI feature, your text (or, for some features like Math Solve, an image) is sent to the AI provider you have configured, signed with your own API key. SnipMD does not proxy, log, or store these requests. The provider's terms and privacy policy govern their handling of your data — please review them.
AI outputs are generated by machine-learning models and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. You are responsible for reviewing AI outputs before relying on them. SnipMD does not warrant the accuracy, reliability, or fitness-for-purpose of any AI-generated content.
The Math OCR feature is provided for convenience. It is not a substitute for careful manual calculation in safety-critical contexts (engineering, medical, financial). Always verify.
The App depends on third-party services (Apple frameworks, AI provider APIs, macOS automation). We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or policies of these services. If a third-party service changes in a way that materially affects the App, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to adapt or notify you.
The App, including its source code, design, branding, and documentation, is owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. The SnipMD name, logo, and wordmark are our trademarks. You may not use them without our prior written permission, except as needed to refer to the App in good faith.
Screenshots you create with the App belong to you. We claim no rights over your content.
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY OF OUTPUTS. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR- FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, BUSINESS, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) US$50.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (such as death, personal injury, or fraud).
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the App in violation of these Terms or applicable law.
These Terms remain in effect until terminated. You may terminate at any time by uninstalling the App and discontinuing use. We may terminate or suspend your license if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, you must stop using the App and uninstall it from all your devices. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including §8–13, §15, and §16) will survive.
We may update these Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the change. Material changes will be announced in the App's release notes. Continued use of the App after a material change constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree, you may stop using the App and request a refund per §6.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Nothing in this section limits your rights as a consumer under the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
We will try to resolve any dispute informally first — please contact us at support@hqinfos.com before filing any formal action. If we cannot resolve a dispute within 30 days, you and we agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Hong Kong SAR, except where applicable consumer law provides otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms removes your right to bring proceedings in your local courts for matters that fall within their jurisdiction under local consumer-protection law.
