These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of ProLightX ("the App"), a macOS photo editor published by yutao ("we", "our", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
ProLightX is a photo editing and library management application for macOS 14 Sonoma or later, running on Apple Silicon Macs. It imports, organizes, and edits RAW and JPEG photos. All image processing happens locally on your Mac; see our Privacy Policy for details.
The App is offered in two tiers:
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use ProLightX on Apple-branded computers that you own or control, for personal or professional use, subject to these Terms and:
You may not: copy, modify, or distribute the App; reverse engineer or decompile it (except where such restriction is prohibited by applicable law); rent, lease, sell, or sublicense it; remove or alter any proprietary notices; or use it to violate any law or third-party rights.
When your Pro subscription expires or is cancelled:
You retain all rights to your photos and edits. We claim no ownership, license, or other rights over any image you import, edit, or export with ProLightX. Because the App processes everything locally on your Mac, your content is never transmitted to us in the first place.
You are solely responsible for your content and for ensuring you have the rights to edit and export it.
We may release updates that add, change, or remove features. The Mac App Store version is updated through the App Store; the direct-download version updates via the built-in Sparkle mechanism (which can be disabled in Settings). These Terms apply to all updates unless an update is accompanied by separate terms.
ProLightX, including its code, design, film simulation profiles, and documentation, is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.
ProLightX is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that all RAW formats from every camera will be supported.
You are responsible for backing up your photos and catalog. We recommend keeping independent backups of your original files.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenue, arising out of or related to your use of the App. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim (or US $50 if you paid nothing).
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including statutory consumer rights.
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may terminate or suspend your license if you breach these Terms. Sections 5, 7, 8, 9, and 11 survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you are a consumer, you retain the protection of any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
If we make material changes to these Terms, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and show an in-app notice on the next launch. Your continued use of the App after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
